Community Art and Social Activism
I facilitate community-based art projects, where each project is unique in terms of who the participants are, the goal of the project, and the character of the collaboration. Community art is often used as a tool for stimulating dialogue, for documenting community-rooted narratives and for encouraging self-empowerment.
As a collaborative artistic process, community art brings together a group of people (who form a community through art or share a commonality in their identity) to contribute to artworks that they use to develop self-empowerment, beautify shared space, to share their perspectives with a wider public, or to challenge the status quo – with and through art.

International Student Program
LVR High School, Nelson BC, 2016
In 2015 and 2016, I was invited to facilitate a community art project as a part of the International Student Program Lunar New Year Celebration. At this yearly event, International students share their customs for the Lunar New Year with local students through food and games. We invited students and school staff to participate in a community art project reflecting on customs around the Lunar New Year, and to express wishes for the New Year.
